Ceilis
Our ceilis are dance gatherings featuring the very best, live, traditional Irish music in the metro area. Primarily focused on country sets, we also include a couple ceili dances in the dancelist. You’re invited to bring a dish to share and participate in the pot-luck supper. There is a one hour dance workshop which is a review of the set-of-the-month before the ceili starts
Dance Classes
To enhance your enjoyment at the ceili, we provide a weekly dance class. Beginners are welcome, regardless of experience, and partners are not required–our experienced dancers will assist you. After the Beginners class, experienced dancers work on more challenging sets. Once a month, live musicians are brought in for a mini-ceili in place of the Advanced class.
Dance Workshops
Since 1987, GWCC has brought instructors direct from Ireland to conduct an intensive weekend of set dance instructions and ceilis. We assemble a ceili band of top musicians from the Mid-Atlantic area to play for our two ceilis. All levels are welcome to come and learn at the workshops.
Concerts
When we can we also present concerts featuring local and touring Irish traditional musicians.
