GWCC Fling

Yes, we are planning to dance again, in 2027, still in Silver Spring, MD.
Keeping tradition alive, in 2025 we transferred our Fall Fling from our venue in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware closer to home, to Silver Spring, Maryland. Thanks to all who attended the inaugural GWCC FLING in our new Silver Spring location! It was another fantastic opportunity to make and renew friendships on that terrific dance floor.
We’ll return to the beautiful Civic Building ballroom in Silver Spring on April 16-18, 2027* for our second GWCC FLING! Pádraig and Róisín will return as instructors, and Pádraig will again call the dances at the Friday and Saturday evening céilís — having the dances so expertly taught and called makes for a more enjoyable and successful experience for everyone.
This shift to a Spring weekend means details are not all finalized yet, but we are working hard on them. Visit the GWCC FLING website for the most up to date information, and email gwccfling@gwcc-online.org to be added to the mailing list.
*Sadly, we are able to hold this event in the Spring because our Spring Fling in Shepherdstown, WV was held for the last time in 2024. Anyone who enjoyed Shepherdstown but couldn’t participate during the Fall in Rehoboth should consider coming to Silver Spring.
Since 1987, GWCC has brought instructors direct from Ireland to conduct an intensive weekend of set dance instructions and ceilis. Originally located in Cape May, NJ with the remarkable Connie Ryan and Bettie McCoy providing the instruction, the weekend relocated to the Atlantic Sands Hotel in Rehoboth Beach, DE with Pádraig and Róisín again conducting the workshops. We assembled a ceili band of top musicians from the Mid-Atlantic area to play for our two ceilis.
Though we no longer host our Fall Fling in Rehoboth Beach or Spring Fling in Shepherdstown, we have reserved a venue for a new Fling for 2025! We will host a set dance weekend in Silver Spring, Maryland, October 31-November 2, 2025.
Padraig and Roisin have confirmed they will ‘cross the pond’ to teach for us. Rambling House will provide music for our ceilis, and the dance hall is a great size with a wonderful floor. The downtown Silver Spring location offers many great restaurants and shops, a wonderful Irish pub, is convenient to Metro and Amtrak; and three airports are easily accessible (Reagan, Dulles & BWI).
