Membership

You don’t have to dance, be Irish, or be local to become a member. All are welcome and dues are very affordable. The modest price of a GWCC membership ($25/person/year) supports these activities and more:

· 8 great monthly céilís with music provided by a range of talented local musicians (members get discounted admission)

· Ridiculously cheap, high quality, year-round weekly set & céilí dance classes with a fantastic instructor

· Member discounts for any Set Dance Weekend we host — like our old Fall Fling in Rehoboth Beach DE with great instructors from Ireland, and the upcoming last Spring Fling in Shepherdstown WV (April 19-20, 2024). A new weekend for 2025 is in the planning stages now

· Scholarships awarded each year to (mostly) young musicians & dancers to study or compete in Ireland to help ensure the future of our community

· A monthly newsletter, In Step, full of news and events of interest to our members

· Outreach performances at senior centers, community events and festivals to increase understanding of Irish heritage

· Occasional visiting instructors for dance workshops to enrich our dance experience

· Occasional concerts & house concerts that showcase traditional musicians from Ireland & other areas of the US

If you live farther away, you can join the fun in person whenever you come to the DC area — come to a céilí (if only to listen to the music) or visit a class to try some simple, basic dances (or some more advanced ones) — you’ll always be welcome and will make some new friends.
